Here are some of the main techniques I use in my therapy practice. My goal is to find what works best for you, depending on your unique challenges and goals.
EMDR and Trauma-Focused Therapy
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of psychotherapy to help people heal from the symptoms and negative emotions associated with disturbing life experiences or trauma. Through EMDR therapy, the mind can heal from deep and complex trauma by removing “blocks” or “imbalances.”
I want to activate the natural healing process in your mind to empower you to move past trauma and everyday problems that may lead to negative feelings, low self-esteem, or powerlessness. EMDR can be a highly effective form of treatment for anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and other types of trauma.
Narrative Therapy with a Solution-Based Approach
Our focus will be on drawing your story out (literally or figuratively). I will also integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) elements into the sessions to help you make the next chapter of your life what you want it to be.
In a nutshell, CBT is a form of counseling that involves trying to change certain thinking or behavioral patterns. I will help you learn skills to cope with the challenges you face and gain healthy perspectives.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is classic office (“talk”) therapy. We can talk about anything, including life struggles, anxiety, depression, challenges at work or school, peer pressure, relationships, etc.
